The fast ferries that operate between Gotland and the Swedish mainland have a loading capacity of 700 - 1500 passengers and between 500 and 150 cars.
So you might either consider bringing your own car or rent one in Visby, or just trust your legs. There are several car and bike rentals in Visby.
Ferries departure all days all year around (except for Christmas Eve and New Years Day) from the harbors of Nynashamn (Nynäshamn) 60 km south of Stockholm, and from Oskarshamn, 320 km north of Gothenburg.
During summer ferry lines connect the second largest island Oland (Öland) with Gotland. The island of Oland has a bridge crossing to the Swedish mainland.
Onboard the ferries you are provided casual food in the restaurant and simpler merchandise in the shop, play room for children and movies. Depending of your ticket choice, you are seated in comfortable lounge chairs or by a table in the food & beverage area.
